FAQ
Sealed price basics.
How to read the guide and where the prices come from.
What does “sealed” mean for Pokémon cards?
A sealed product is still in its original factory packaging: an unopened booster box, Elite Trainer Box, bundle, tin, blister or pack. Collectors pay a premium for sealed product because the cards inside are unknown and the supply shrinks as boxes are opened.
Why do older sealed products cost so much more?
Fewer sealed copies survive as years pass, and older sets were printed in smaller numbers. That is why booster boxes from before 2014 have median prices many times those of current sets in the table above.
What price is shown here?
TCGplayer Market Price for the English product, which TCGplayer calculates from recent completed sales. It is a reference for what a sealed product has been selling for, not a store price or an offer.
How is the “median” calculated?
For each product type and era, we line up every priced product in the Sealed Product Index and take the middle price, so one very expensive or very cheap product doesn’t skew the typical price. The count under each figure is how many products it covers.
How often is this guide updated?
Every day. The prices on this page are TCGplayer Market Prices as of October 26, 2026.
Is sealed Pokémon a good investment?
We don’t give investment advice. Prices move, rarely traded products can rest on very few sales, and past changes don’t predict future ones. Use this guide as a reference and check current listings before you buy or sell.
